January 9, 2026- Family Orientation (Boone Campus)

Join your student during orientation to experience college life at App State! Each session will include information on how to support your student’s success at Appalachian State University.

Registration is required to attend. There is a 2-guest maximum. This program is separate from Student Orientation but happens concurrently. 

Check-in will begin at 8:30 AM. At check-in, each family will receive one meal voucher for lunch in our campus dining hall. If you’d like to purchase additional meals, coffee, smoothies, or anything else on campus, please bring a separate method of payment. Please note: App State’s campus is cashless, so you must bring a card if you plan to purchase additional items.

Boone's weather can be unpredictable, so we recommend bringing a heavy jacket to stay prepared for colder temperatures. App State’s beautiful campus is known for its steep hills, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing to make exploring easier.

Please plan to be on campus around 8:30 am to check in and participate in on-campus sessions from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with several breaks throughout the day.

Contact the Office of Disability Resources if you need accommodations due to a disability during orientation. Please submit your request for accommodations at least two weeks prior to your event.
